Rugby Bicentenary Photo Contest

Amateur rugby photo contest

A fascinating history of 200 years of… unshakeable rituals, on the world scale and at all levels. 200 years of locker room preparations and warm-ups, of motivation tactics and pre-game peptalks, of kickoffs and the spirit of fair play, come what may… 200 years of scrums and line-outs, of tackles and passes – the spin pass and the basic, the behind-the-back, chistera, flair and fumble – not to mention the drop goals, penalty tries, touch-ins, and hand-offs… It’s 200 years of 22-meter kicks, dead balls, crash balls, and marks… Of mud, blood, brawls, and rucks, of opensides and blindsides, of offloads and penalties, of 5 meters scrums and mauls, of chip kicks and up-and-unders, of long passes and skims, of 2 against 1s and reduced line-outs, of centring and outflanking, of clearing kicks and punts, of victories and losses, of final whistles and guards of honour, of handshakes and jersey swaps, of thrills and disappointments… and myriad post-match celebrations mixed with beers and songs…

In short, 1823 to 2023 is 200 years of rugby – and counting!

The contest is over, the jury deliberates...
